Short answer: Enable Certificates in Configuration, pick a template, fill in the details you want printed (name, score, date, instructor, logo, message), and make sure your quiz has a passing score. When a visitor finishes and passes, the result screen shows a download link, and you can also email the PDF if you want.
One important rule before anything else: The certificate is only generated for visitors who pass. If your quiz has no passing score, or the visitor scores below it, no certificate is created — that is by design.
Step 1 — Make sure passing is defined
Open the quiz and go to Configuration → General.
Set a Passing Score (for example, 60 or 70%).
If your quiz uses a different quiz type (Personality, Product Recommendation), certificates are not the right fit — certificates work with standard / scored quizzes.
Step 2 — Turn certificates on
Stay in Configuration and open the Gamification / Certificate area.
Toggle Enable Certificate on.
Choose a template (for example Modern, Classic, or Award). The live preview updates as you switch.
Step 3 — Fill in what should appear on the certificate
In the same panel you can decide what prints on the PDF:
Show score — adds the visitor’s final percentage.
Show date — adds the completion date.
Show instructor — adds an instructor or signer name; type the Instructor Name when this is on.
Custom message — short line under the title (for example “In recognition of completing the Onboarding Quiz.”).
Email the certificate — turn this on if you also want the PDF emailed to the visitor.
Step 4 — Make sure the visitor’s name will be captured
The certificate prints the visitor’s name. If you do not collect a name, the certificate will be missing that part.
Open Configuration → General (or the Lead Capture area).
Turn on Lead Capture.
Make Name a required field on the start screen so the certificate has a name to print. Email is recommended too if you want to email the PDF.
Step 5 — Test the full flow
Open the Preview.
Enter a name (and email if you enabled emailing).
Take the quiz and answer enough questions correctly to pass.
On the result screen, look for the Download Certificate link and open the PDF.
Check that name, score, date, instructor, message, and logo look the way you want.
If the certificate does not appear
The visitor did not pass — lower the passing score temporarily to confirm the flow, then put it back.
The result screen shows no link — make sure Enable Certificate is on and you saved/updated the quiz after toggling it.
The PDF shows a blank name — Lead Capture Name was not collected; turn it on and require it.
The logo does not show — the Logo URL must be a public image link (no login required) and reachable from the internet.
Email did not arrive — turn on Email the certificate and make sure the visitor entered an email that is required at start.
Good to know
The PDF is generated on the server when the visitor passes, then the result screen shows the download link automatically.
If you change templates or settings later, republish/update the quiz so the public version uses the new certificate.
For courses or training, pair certificates with Allow Retakes off (or limited) so a single pass produces a single certificate per visitor.
