How can I choose the right data source in the Visitor Counter widget (Manual, Poper Script, or GA4)?

The most important Visitor Counter decision is Data Source. It controls whether numbers are simulated, script-driven, or analytics-backed.

This screenshot should show all three source options and where each is selected.

  1. Open your Visitor Counter widget and go to Content.

  2. Choose the source that matches your goal:

    • Manual / Simulated for demo content and visual testing

    • Poper Script for live counting from installed Poper script

    • Google Analytics 4 for GA-backed reporting

  3. If using Poper Script, copy and install the provided script snippet in your site <head>.

  4. If using GA4, connect Google account and select the property.

  5. Verify the counter values update in live mode (not just editor preview).

Use this setting when your displayed visitor values seem unrealistic or disconnected from real traffic.

Check this if the result does not look right:

  • If counts look fake, ensure source is not still set to Manual/Simulated.

  • If Poper source has no live updates, confirm script is installed on the actual live site.

  • If GA data is empty, verify property selection and integration connection status.
