How can I choose the right Search widget template and keep results useful?
The Search widget has multiple layouts (Inline, Command Palette, Sidebar, AI Summary, Filters). The right template and content controls make search faster and easier for visitors.
This screenshot should show where layout is chosen and where result behavior is tuned.
Go to Templates and choose a layout based on behavior:
Command Palette for fast
Cmd/Ctrl + Kstyle searchSidebar Panel for browsing many results
Category Tabs / With Filters for segmented content
Smart Suggestions for guided discovery
In Content, configure dynamic lists:
Categories for tabs/filter templates
Suggestions for smart suggestion template
In Appearance, set:
Placeholder text aligned to your content intent
Max Results (start around 8β12)
Test with common user queries and adjust until results are easy to scan.
Use this setting when visitors search but do not find relevant pages quickly.
Check this if the result does not look right:
If dropdown feels noisy, reduce Max Results.
If users seem lost, simplify categories to a smaller, clear set.
If search intent is unclear, rewrite placeholder text to guide what can be searched.
