How can I choose the right layout for the News Ticker widget?

Pick the best News Ticker layout based on how many announcements you have and how visitors should read them.

When to use this

The News Ticker widget includes multiple layouts because not every announcement should move the same way. Choose the layout based on how many items you need to show, how important each item is, and how much space the ticker has on your page.

News Ticker layout type settings with annotations

Suggested annotations: 1. Layout type selector. 2. Marquee for continuous short updates. 3. Rotating for one important item at a time. 4. Multi Row for larger lists.

Layout options

  • Marquee: Best for short announcements that can scroll continuously in one line, such as product updates, offers, or quick alerts.

  • Rotating: Best when each item deserves attention on its own. This works well for important notices because visitors see one headline at a time.

  • Multi Row: Best when you have several items and want to avoid one very long scrolling line. Use this when the ticker has enough vertical space.

  • Typing: Best for a small number of short headlines where the reveal effect is part of the experience.

  • Vertical: Best for a compact alert panel or sidebar-style ticker where items should move upward instead of across the page.

Steps

  1. Open the News Ticker widget editor.

  2. Go to the Templates or Layout tab.

  3. Select the layout that matches your content type.

  4. Preview the ticker with your real headlines, not only sample text.

  5. After choosing the layout, open the Behavior tab and adjust the available motion controls for that layout.

Tips

  • Use Rotating if your visitors must be able to read every item clearly.

  • Use Marquee only when headlines are short enough to scan while moving.

  • Use Multi Row when you have many announcements but still want them visible quickly.

  • If a layout feels crowded, reduce the number of feed items or shorten the manual headlines.
