How can I let visitors manage categories in the Cookie Consent widget?

Enable the Preference Center so visitors can choose which cookie categories they allow.

Written by Karan Bhakuni

Use the Preference Center when visitors need to choose cookie categories instead of making one all-or-nothing decision. This keeps the Cookie Consent widget focused on consent choices while still keeping strictly necessary cookies active.

What to notice in the screenshot

  1. Preference Center: Turn this on after selecting Ask users.

  2. Revisit Icon: Optional. Use it if visitors should be able to reopen their consent choices later.

Enable category choices

Open the Content tab, expand Strategy, and select Ask users. Then turn on Preference Center.

After this is enabled, the banner can show a Preferences button. Visitors can use it to open the cookie preference modal before saving their choice.

What visitors can manage

  1. Strictly Necessary: Always active because the website needs these cookies to work.

  2. Functionality: Optional cookies for remembered choices or enhanced experience.

  3. Tracking & Analytics: Optional scripts for analytics tools.

  4. Targeting & Ads: Optional scripts for ads and remarketing tools.

Keep this article focused on category choice only. If you need to add scripts to a category, use the script article separately.
