By default, Poper tracks UTM parameters and referrer information when a user lands on your site. This information is stored in cookies, allowing you to target subsequent pages based on the initial traffic source.
However, you might want to restrict this tracking so that UTM and referrer targeting only applies to the specific page where the user initially landed with those parameters.
Here's how to disable the carry-forward behavior:
Steps to Limit UTM and Referrer Tracking:
Access Your Poper Dashboard:
Log in to your Poper account and navigate to the main dashboard.
Open the Target Popup:
Click on the specific popup where you want to modify the UTM and referrer tracking behavior.
Navigate to Audience Filtering:
In the popup editor, locate the "Audience Filtering" icon on the left-hand side and click it.
Open the "Audience" Tab:
Within the "Audience Filtering" section, click on the "Audience" tab.
Access UTM Settings:
Scroll down within the "Audience" tab until you find the "UTM" settings. Click on the "UTM" option to expand its settings.
Disable "Carry forward across next pages":
You will see a checkbox labeled "Carry forward across next pages." Uncheck this checkbox.
Update the Popup:
Click the "Update" or "Save" button to apply these changes to your popup.
How This Change Affects Tracking:
Once you disable the "Carry forward across next pages" option:
UTM Parameters: The UTM parameters present in the initial landing page URL will only be considered for targeting on that specific page load. If the user navigates to another page, even within the same session, the UTM parameters from the initial landing will no longer be automatically applied for targeting on the new page.
Referrer Information: Similarly, the referrer information from the initial landing page will only be used for targeting on that first page. Subsequent page views will not inherit the initial referrer for targeting purposes.
By disabling the "Carry forward across next pages" option, you gain more granular control over how UTM and referrer information is used for targeting your Poper campaigns, allowing for more contextually relevant and potentially higher-converting interactions.
